Your Mesa, Your 2026: The Transformation Begins

In 2026, Durango Mesa Park transforms from a vision into a premier outdoor hub, marking a pivotal year of increased accessibility and amenity construction. Often described as Colorado’s largest bike park, the project is moving rapidly.

A Bike Park and Much More

Highlights include the development of a major bike park, new multi-use trails, a world-class dual slalom trail, skills zone, strider bicycle playground, and a Velosolutions asphalt pump track, along with additional trails that are sure to change the way the public accesses trails in Durango.

Although it’s a bike park with bike trails, it’s really a park, which is why it’s called Durango Mesa Park. Bike trails are an important aspect because what’s being built here reflects the type of trails this community has been seeking for the past 20+ years, as modern jump and flow trails have grown in popularity.

Progress by the Numbers

• 2023: Construction of the Demo Trails

• 2025: Completion of 75% of trails in the Upper Zone

• 2026 Focus:

  • Skills Park

  • Bicycle Playground

  • Asphalt Pump Track

  • Dual Slalom Course

  • Connecting the Upper Zone through the Middle Zone into the Lower Zone

  • Final connection of the 5-mile cross-country loop (Manilla Vanilla and Durango Mesa Park Connector Trail)

The best part of all this? No e-bike restrictions!

Expanding Amenities Across the Park

The bike park is not the only focus. Additional amenities include:

• A 100-space parking lot

• A 2-acre leashless dog park

  • 0.5 acres for small dogs

  • 1.5 acres for large dogs

  • Includes its own dog walking loop with park access

• Open space for a future concert venue, similar in size to Buckley Park

This future venue will host concerts and events, complementing the park’s growing role as a community gathering space.

While we often use the term “bike park” due to the bike-specific trails, it’s important to recognize the full range of experiences available here, including disc golf, hiking-only trails, and multi-use paths for running and walking.

Looking Ahead: Equestrian Access

We’re also actively working on equestrian trails and trailheads as a way to continue expanding access, even after the County stepped away from the collaboration. A separate equestrian trail system is being envisioned and may break ground in late 2026 or 2027.

A Community Vision Realized

For years, community members have envisioned a space that bridges the rugged beauty of Durango with world-class outdoor recreation. In 2026, that vision is becoming reality as Durango Mesa Park reaches a major milestone, centered on connecting people to the land.

As our community prepares for the 2030 World Championships, the park is also being developed to complement the event through music, gatherings, and after-hours activities. This space is evolving into a venue that not only supports the World Championships, but also delivers the outdoor experiences and events our region absolutely needs more of.
