2027 & Beyond
As Durango Mesa Park continues to evolve, new amenities and gathering spaces will expand opportunities for recreation, events, and community connection. In addition to completing major park features, future development will continue to build toward the park’s long-term vision. Planned amenities include a world championship-caliber BMX Facility & Freestyle Training, a music and cultural venue for concerts and performances, equestrian-specific trails once fundraising goals are met, and a future mountain sports complex that will further establish the park as a global destination for outdoor recreation and events.
Continued Bike Park Development
Riding features and trails will continue to expand throughout the park, supporting progression and dynamic riding experiences for all skill levels. The Creek Zone will bring a nature playground, Strider track, trials area and course, and picnic pavilions, creating a welcoming place for play, skill-building, and gathering.
Flexible Event Space / Stage
A flexible performance stage will expand opportunities to host concerts, cultural events, festivals, and community celebrations in the park’s event area.
Campground
The campground will provide visitors with a convenient place to stay while enjoying Durango Mesa Park’s trails, recreation amenities, and events.
BMX Facility & Freestyle Training
A world championship BMX facility is planned as a future addition to Durango Mesa Park, designed to host elite competitions while also supporting local riders and youth programs. This venue will further strengthen Durango’s reputation as a global hub for cycling and action sports. The ultimate buildout of this building will support other community events and organizations, including meeting space and opportunity for conference space.
Ongoing Park Stewardship and Improvements
Durango Mesa Park will continue to evolve through ongoing maintenance and thoughtful improvements across the park. How visitors use and interact with the park will help guide future enhancements to trails, recreation spaces, and gathering areas.
